After graduating from college at UC Berkeley in 1988, Jennifer worked as a Paralegal for a firm in San Francisco for several years. Frustrated with the limitations on decision making in cases that resulted from being a Paralegal, Jennifer studied law at Southwestern Law School’s two-year accelerated SCALE Program, graduating and passing the California Bar in 1992.
Jennifer is a third-generation female attorney. Her grandmother, Elizabeth McCarthy, became a lawyer in 1929, and helped pave the way for female attorneys everywhere. In 1948 Mrs. McCarthy started a law firm in Solvang, California (Santa Barbara County). She was joined by her daughter, Jennifer’s mother Sheila Kornblum, in 1981. Jennifer joined the firm in 1997, eventually becoming its managing partner.
After her mother retired, Jennifer and her husband Tom decided to move to Missouri in late 2005. Jennifer passed the Missouri bar exam and was licensed here in 2006. As an attorney, Jennifer has worked in establishing companies, real estate-related litigation, and in acquisition and development of real estate for a national hotel company. While maintaining a practice in the legal field, Jennifer has also chosen to pursue real estate sales as a natural progression and use of the skills she has developed throughout her legal career. She became a Realtor® in 2016.
She is a member of the Greater Springfield Board of Realtors, the Springfield Bar Association, and volunteers at Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks. In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys hiking, reading, showing homes, and visiting her Lunch Buddy.
